An intricate piece, written by the greatest composer for guitar that has ever lived: Agustín Barrios Mangoré.
One of my two favorite pieces from Barrios! The other being his 4th piece from the Opus 8 work. I recorded this song years ago and it was one of my first videos.
Written by Bob Marley.
An interesting arrangement played by John Mayer. It's been floating around the internet for years so I'm happy to finally have it written down.
Written by Antonio Lauro, a brilliant composer that brought the Venezualan style waltz to the rest of the world.
A short, happy piece of music that has some interesting melodic ideas, and some complex harmonies going on.
Written by the Beatles.
A truly incredible piece, taught to me by Lauren Passareli, a talented professor at Berklee College of Music. Even though it's very different from the original piece by the Beatles, there really is something special about the way this melody fits over a walking bass line. Not currently available for download, as I am still writing out the tab.
From The Wizard of Oz soundtrack.
There are a lot of guitar arrangements out there covering this song, from Tommy Emmanuel's classic rendition to a wide collection from different jazz guitarists on youtube. While a lot of these versions are certainly nice to listen to and play, they are actually pretty advanced pieces. The arrangement here is made for beginners who are looking to challenge themselves with a simple example of fingerstyle technique and working with indepedent basslines.
From The Legend Of Zelda video game series.
A beautiful song prominent in The Legend Of Zelda series, written by Koji Kondo, himself being a legend of the video game music industry.
From The Legend Of Zelda video game series.
A motif made for the Princess Zelda character from the series. Even though it original debuted in (the 1991 release) A Link To The Past, I'll never forget actually playing the song with the game controller in Ocarina of Time.
Written by Junichi Masuda.
It was only recently that I realized a lot of the incidental music from the show is actually based off of the original works created for the games. It's really impressive how this game has evolved over the years, and the music has consistently been a vital part of the whole franchise. It speaks to the strength of the compositions, no matter how simple - they really inspire joy, mystery, tranquility and danger all somehow simultaneously.
Written by Koji Kondo.
An incredibly joyful piece of music written by Koji Kondo for one of the best games in the whole series.
Written by Mel Tormé & Robert Wells.
A very popular Christmas song, probably the most popular. I love Christmas music. While learning a bunch of different tunes I realized this number by Mel Tormé has some complex harmony going on. It would be a great example piece for a harmonic analysis, since it is filled with secondary dominants, deceptive cadences, and is all around just an excellent composition.
